Next cycle: April 2026-April 2027
APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 15TH!
Berlin – Schillerkiez
ARTLAB_LCC is the studio and research platform of Luisa Catucci Contemporary.
The residency offers a small number of selected artists the opportunity to work closely for one year with Berlin-based gallerist and international curator Luisa Catucci.
This is not a studio rental. It is a structured, long-term working relationship built around regular studio visits, critique, and sustained exchange. Only four artists are selected per cycle.
Over twelve months, artists work in direct dialogue with the gallery. Studio visits take place approximately every 4–6 weeks and concentrate on the work as it develops — its strengths, its weaknesses, and its direction.
The residency is not limited to preparing a final exhibition. It supports the broader artistic practice: how to conceive and structure projects, how to articulate ideas clearly, how to present oneself professionally, and how to position work within a contemporary context.
If an artist is preparing an external exhibition, a funding application, or developing a new project, this can be reflected upon during the studio visits.
The work is continuous and grounded in the practical realities of being an artist.
Each resident receives a written critical text focused on their artistic practice and the body of work developed during the residency.
A curatorial text is also produced for the final group exhibition.
Artist statements, portfolios, and written materials may be reviewed and refined during the year when necessary to ensure clarity and consistency.
The residency also includes advisory guidance on project conception, proposal structure, and professional presentation.
Throughout the year, four public studio events take place, including artist talks. These curated moments open the working process to a selected audience and create continuity between research and presentation.
The studio becomes a space of exchange and visibility, allowing the work to be encountered in development rather than only in its final form.
Short studio interviews and visual documentation are produced during the year and shared through Luisa Catucci Contemporary channels.
At the conclusion of the 12-month residency, the four selected artists present their work in a curated group exhibition at Luisa Catucci Contemporary.
The exhibition takes place as a focused presentation weekend in the main gallery space, bringing together the works developed during the year within a defined curatorial framework.
The format is collective and curated at the discretion of the gallery.
